Victory: Province freezes rent increases and suspends evictions

The BCGEU is welcoming news that the provincial government will be suspending evictions and freezing rent increases as part of a series of measures meant to protect renters during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Earlier in March, the BCGEU called for the suspension of rents and mortgage payments for sick and self-isolating workers. Prior to that in December 2019, our Affordable BC campaign launched a petition to cancel the 2.6 per cent rent increase for 2020
